If you want to run code that employs any of the JDBC 2.0 features, you will need to do the following:
- Download JDK 1.2, following the download instructions
- Install a JDBC driver that implements the JDBC 2.0 features used in the code
- Access a DBMS that implements the JDBC 2.0 features used in the code
If your driver does not bundle the JDBC 2.0 Standard Extension API (the
javax.sql
package, you can download it from the JDBC home page .The JDBC 2.0 API enables you to do the following:
- Scroll forward and backward in a result set or move to a specific row.
- Make updates to database tables, using methods in the Java programming language instead of using SQL commands.
- Send multiple SQL statements to the database as a unit, or a batch.
